Doing Business During COVID-19
For many industries, during this COVID-19 pandemic, their business has slowed, services are halted, and marketing face to face is nearly impossible. The fast-paced American way of doing business has been reduced to essential services. There is no doubt that some businesses won’t make it while others will push through and continue to thrive. For instance, restaurants that are able to pivot to take-out and delivery service continue to operate with limited staff and limited hours. Other restaurants are completely shut down and losing money every day.
A Different Approach
We spoke with Dustin Baker, owner of Assisted Living Locators East Valley, in Phoenix Arizona. Dustin and his team match seniors with assisted living communities, residential care homes, and retirement communities. Most of these homes and communities are not accepting new residents, allowing visitors, or scheduling tours. All of which are directly related to the free service that is provided by Assisted Living Locators. Dustin, the leader and top producer in the national franchise system, has taken a different approach than some of his competitors. As business seemed to slow, he saw an opportunity to double down. He increased his marketing, encouraged his team, and made a decision to push through knowing that his business would eventually be stronger.
Dustin and his team are still operating and have increased their marketing efforts. This includes expanding Dustin’s online presence with SEO, creating video updates that are relevant to his community then distributing that content through social media, while continuing to solve problems for both clients and the communities he currently has relationships with. All of these factors have separated Assisted Living Locators East Valley from similar companies and are paying off during this COVID-19 crisis.
Small business owners and managers have a choice to make. They can wait for everything to open and hope that business returns to normal or they can take the time to re-evaluate marketing plans and operation strategies. For some, it may be too late and for others, it is not. Regardless there is something that can be learned from this COVID-19 era.
Assisted Living Locators services the East Valley of Phoenix, AZ including East Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Tempe, San Tan Valley, Queen Creek, Apache Junction, and Gold Canyon. Assisted Living Locators provides senior placement services at no cost to seniors and their families. They may be compensated by homes and communities that they contract with.
